Gatlinburg Tennessee on Film

All photos shot with a Minolta Hi-Matic AF2 and Minolta XD-11. I loaded up on Ultramax and a few rolls of Kentmere and HP5. This was actually my first time taking a point and shoot camera on a trip and i hadn’t had the chance to shoot a test roll yet since i bought the camera. Thankfully, Artifct here in Nashville has never let me down when i have bought a camera from them. So i was mostly confident in taking it on the trip untested.

We stayed at a Vrbo in the Smokey Mountains we reserved probably 3 months in advance. The place was a little dated but the view…you really paid for the hot tub and the most breathtaking view off the mountains into the distance surrounded by green and just a touch of that early October fall. I even saw a bear.

The way things worked out we ended up having to take the hike our final day of our stay. Luckily, i made sure to get our parking pass from the visitor center the day before. You need a pass to park on the trails and you need to go EARLY because there will be no where to park. We packed up our things that morning, packed some stuff for the hike, got some breakfast and headed out to the trail.

I’ll admit taking a point and shoot on a trip was a game changer. I absolutely loved the quality of the photos i got with the Hi-Matic Af2. It was fun, compact, lightweight and helped me capture the memories from this trip. The XD-11 stayed at home for majority of the trip. I only ever took it on the hike the last day and that’s because we packed everything to head home with us.
